Kealing Comprehensive Academic Program

The Kealing Comprehensive Academic Program provides families with a sense of community. Serving students in grades 6th through 8th, we provide a rigorous and engaging curriculum, which supports the needs of students of a wide ability range. It is our priority to accommodate the social and emotional needs of our students, and we work together to provide a safe, nurturing environment.
The Comprehensive Academic Program has made great strides on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills. Our students have a strong desire to succeed academically, and it is our responsibility to build their confidence. Our academic strength is evident with the success of the AVID Program. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. Although students must apply to this program, all teachers in the Kealing Comprehensive Academic Program use AVID's theories and practices to prepare students for college and beyond. The following structures make our program strong:
Instruction guided by Reading, Writing, Inquiry, and Collaboration;
Cross disciplinary approach used to study vocabulary;
Learning materials maintained in binders; Learning Logs used for academic and self-reflection;
Accountable talk practiced in classrooms;
Gifted and Talented and Advanced Placement Strategies practiced in classrooms
Learning is supported with several enrichment programs that are available to students during the day and after school. These programs support our students' academic achievement.
